Miguel Pagola (Caracas, 1976) holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Public University of Navarre (UPNA), a diploma he obtained in 2008. Since 2003, he has been part of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence area within the Department of Statistics, Computer Science and Mathematics at said university.
His teaching has primarily focused on the Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Computer Engineering, where he has taught subjects related to Artificial Intelligence, including foundational topics, machine learning, and applications such as robotics and data mining. Throughout his academic career, he has supervised over 80 final end-of-studies projects and published research on the use of robots in project-based learning environments.
In the field of research, he is a member of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research Group (ARIN) and the Institute of Smart Cities at UPNA. His main lines of research focus on advanced applications of artificial intelligence, such as the use of deep learning techniques for image recognition, machine learning applied to predictive maintenance of wind turbines, and the use of fuzzy sets and their extensions for approximate reasoning.
He has jointly written more than 50 articles published in scientific journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), 20 book chapters, and over 70 scientific conference contributions, 40 of which have been presented at international events. He has participated in 16 publicly funded research projects and 17 technology transfer contracts, acting as main researcher in 4 of them, all focused on industrial applications of artificial intelligence. He has also supervised three doctoral theses.
As for his involvement in the scientific community, he has served on technical committees of various international conferences, organised special sessions, and acted as a reviewer for several specialised scientific journals.
In terms of academic management, he was Deputy Director of the School of Industrial, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIIIT) from 2014 to 2019, during which time he was responsible for the Computer Engineering Degree and for the academic coordination of the Master's in Computer Engineering. Since 2019, he has held the position of Director of Digital Transformation at UPNA, working to promote digital innovation in teaching and research, and collaborating with other university services to enhance the digital experience of students, academic staff and administrative personnel.

Daniel Paternain Dallo (Pamplona, 1984) holds a degree in Management Computer Engineering (2006), a degree in Computer Science (2008), and a Doctoral degree (2013) from Public University of Navarre, where he is currently associate professor (tenured) in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
In research, he is part of the group "ARIN. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research". His main research lines have focused on the proposal and improvement of machine learning models, primarily applied to computer vision, information fusion, and the analysis of biases in artificial intelligence models. This research has been reflected in 40 articles in JCR journals and more than 60 contributions to national and international conferences. Additionally, he has participated in 20 R&D projects, including 8 national plan projects and 2 strategic R&D projects funded by Government of Navarre, as well as in 20 technology transfer contracts with leading companies in the sector. Both during his predoctoral and postdoctoral stages, he has conducted several research stays at the University of Granada, Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia), the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Natal, Brazil), and the Slovak University of Technology (Bratislava, Slovakia).
In teaching, he has taught a variety of subjects, mainly in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Computer Engineering, where he has supervised more than 60 end-of-studies projects. In addition to being responsible for several subjects, he is currently responsible for the quality of the Master's in Computer Engineering. He has received 3 evaluations of his teaching activity, two of which were rated as excellent.
In terms of management, he has been a representative on the Committee of Contracted Teaching and Research Staff at UPNA for 10 years, a member of the University Senate since 2015, and a member of the Governing Council of UPNA from 2020 to 2022 and since 2023 to the present.
