UPNA is a public university founded in 1987 by the Parliament of Navarre, with campuses in Pamplona and Tudela. 

It develops its academic activity in all the areas of knowledge: Engineering, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences and Arts and Humanities

UPNA includes an offer of 27 Bachelor's degrees (and 8 double Bachelor's degrees)  and 33 Master’s degrees (and 5 double master’s degrees), apart from a wide range of doctorate programmes and UPNA’s own degrees.

Driving force of society through knowledge transfer and research

UPNA is a key piece in Navarre’s researching activity, organised around research institutes, university-companies chairs and spin-offs foundation.  

It counts on a researching community of over 1000 people and, with its commitment to competitiveness, UPNA has created 6 research institutes which gather over 500 of these people: Institute of Smart Cities (ISC), Institute for Advanced Materials and Mathematics (INAMAT²), Institute for Advanced Research in Business and Economics (INARBE), Institute for Sustainability & Food Chain Innovation (ISFOOD), Institute for Advanced Social Research (I-COMMUNITAS) and Institute for Multidisciplinary Research in Applied Biology (IMAB), aiming at tackling complex projects in a multidisciplinary way.

It is also part of Navarrabiomed mix centre with the Health Department of Government of Navarre, of the technology centre NAITEC, which aims at boosting the development of automotive sector technologies and mechatronics in Navarre, and the Health Research Institute of Navarre (IdiSNA), multidisciplinary and translational biomedical research area.

We foster inclusion, equality and voluntary work

UPNA carries out training and awareness action for the university community and works to eliminate architectural and technical barriers, and those related to accessing communication and information, so the University is accessible and for all people.

Besides, and through the Health University Plan, UPNA joins the global Health Promotion movement, seeking the generation of well-being, life quality and health. This way, it fosters the people and groups' positive resources, and promotes students’ participation in health promotion actions, and teachers’ participation, too, to add said participation to university curriculums. Likewise, it fosters interventions aiming at equity and equal opportunities in the university community, especially those between men and women in all areas and scopes of action (Equality Plan).

Green, sustainable and smart campus 

Thanks to the European Union Next Generation Funds, and within the framework of the Plan to Boost Public Buildings Renovation (PIREP), UPNA is immersed in the “UPNA Green Smart & Sustainable Campus” project to become a sustainable and smart campus which will reduce its energy consumption from non-renewable sources by more than 30%.

In order to achieve so, it will count on photovoltaic panels in Arrosadia Campus, electric vehicles recharging points, and it is planning on accumulating the spare energy in storing systems in a subsequent phase.

We boost the international profile of the university community

UPNA has a clear international vocation. For that, if has a well-established multilingual offer which allows students to compete successfully in the international market. Likewise, it counts on bi-lateral agreements with over 300 universities in 50 countries, which favours mobility for the university community.

We foster strategic alliances to promote excellence and collaboration 

UPNA, keen to find teaching and researching excellence, is focused on universities associations and aggregations which makes it possible for it to increase its quality and knowledge. Thus, it is part of the Grupo 9 of Universities, of Campus Iberus (Valle del Ebro International Excellence Campus) and of the European Consortium UNITA.

Campus Iberus, International Excellence Campus of the Ebro Valley, is the strategic alliance of public universities of the central Ebro valley (University of La Rioja, Lleida, Public of Navarre and Zaragoza).

The Grupo 9 de Universidades (G-9 - Universities Group) is an association consisting of those public universities that are the only ones in their region: University of Cantabria, University of Castilla-La Mancha, University of Extremadura, Universitat de les Illes Balears, University of La Rioja, University of Oviedo, University of the Basque Country, Public University of Navarre and University of Zaragoza..

The European Consortium UNITA is one of the European university consortiums created by the European Commission within the framework of the Erasmus programme. They are transnational alliances of universities destined to build the new European higher education model. It includes the University of Zaragoza, University of Turín (Italy), University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour and University of Savoie Montblanc (both in France), West University of Timisoara (Romania), University of Beira Interior (Portugal), Public University of Navarre, Politécnico da Guarda (Portugal), University of Brescia (Italy) and Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania).
