Access and admission
Access requirements
In order to access official University Master's degrees it will be necessary to have an official university degree issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area or any other country which grants access to Master’s degrees in the issuing country.
Registration
Only students who have completed their Bachelor’s degrees will be admitted.
Specific criteria of the the Master's degree
In order to access this Master’s degree from degrees of foreign educational systems, the degree must be standardised.
The Master’s degree Academic Commission is ultimately the entity in charge of deciding on admission.
Foreign language skills B1 or higher
A B1 or higher level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (MCER) in a foreign language must be certified through an official certificate.
Those graduates from UPNA with a transcript showing the necessary linguistic skills to be granted the Bachelor’s degree that gives them access to the Master’s degree. Accepted certificates to prove skills in German, French and English.
Likewise, it is acknowledged that holders of a university degree from an English, French, German or Italian-speaking country have a C1 level in the language they studied their degree. This way, such students do not have to submit an additional certificate.
Order of the chosen options
In the Master’s degree pre-registration process applicants may choose 2 specialities. In order to do so, you must pre-register twice, being careful to pre-register first for your first choice of speciality and then for the second one. The order of pre-registrations is taken into account during the admission process – in each speciality students who have chosen it as the first option are prioritised.
Thus, in each speciality: 1º) Students are classified in two groups - those who have chosen the speciality as a first option and those who have chosen it as a second option; 2º) in each group, students are organised according to the priority criteria described below, and for students within the same criterion, according to their academic records. The CV may be, if necessary, the diriment element.
Admission priority order
In each speciality, the following criteria are organised hierarchically:
1. Priority: degree
Candidates will be organised according to their degree of origin and, for equivalent degrees of origin, according to their academic records. See approximate table (“Preference order by degrees”).
2. Priority: 60 credits of the speciality
If the degree of origin does not grant direct access to a speciality, the eligibility of the candidate will be decided if at least 60 credits of subjects related to the speciality are certified.
3. Priority: content test
Candidates who do not meet either of the aforementioned criteria may conduct an access content test by speciality. This criterion may only be applicable in the third pre-registration period.
Content test: (Specialities: French, Basque and Literature, Mathematics)
- Day: 1 September
- Location: Conference room of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (ground floor of the Magnolios building)
- Click here.to find out about the content of the test.
Admission of students with non-standard degrees, or degrees with no equivalent ones recognised to an academic level of Bachelor’s or Master's degrees
According to Order ECI/3858/2007 of 27 December, this Master’s degree qualifies students for professional practice of Secondary Education Teachers, Vocational Training and Language Training.
In order to access public teaching practice, it is also necessary to have an official degree or, if applicable, a standard degree or one with a recognised equivalent.
