Access requirements
In order to access an official doctoral degree students must hold a Spanish official Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and University Master's degree, or equivalent, provided they have passed at least 300 ECTS credits counting both of them..
Specific criteria of the programme
The Academic Commission will examine the applications and decide on admissions taking the following aspects into account:
- Academic record of Bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees which grant access to the doctoral degree, assessed according to the regulations on grades and assessment of academic records (75%):
- Bachelor's degree academic record: 0-50 %. Grade of Bachelor's degree's academic record:
- 9-10: 50 %
- 8-8.99: 40 %
- 7-.799: 30 %
- 5-6.99: 15 %
- Bachelor's degree academic record: 0-50 %. Grade of Bachelor's degree's academic record:
- Master’s degree academic record: 0-25 %. Grade of Master's degree's academic record:
- 9-10: 25 %
- 8-8.99: 20 %
- 7-.799: 15 %
- 5-6.99: 5 %
- Academic recommendations or endorsements: two letters (5%): 2 letters (5%) 1 letter (3%)
- Researching experience: papers, research projects, participation in congresses. (20%):
- Papers: 5 % (1% for each published paper (regardless of its indexing)
- Participation in congresses, seminars, scientific gatherings, day conferences (communication / poster): 10 % (2 % for each communication, 1 % for each poster)
- Collaboration with research projects: 5 % (2 % if it is an international research collaboration, 1 % if it is a national research collaboration)
Recommended admission profile:
Holders of a Bachelor’s degree or university degree and at least an official Master’s degree, both in the Social Work area.
Students from similar degrees may also access.
Additional profiles which may be considered similar are defined - they will require training complements.
Social sciences. In the case of students who do not come from Social Work or similar degrees, a 0.5 reduction coefficient will be applied in each of the specific sections included in the admission criteria. In those cases in which there is not similarity between the applicant's academic training or their experience or researching CV and the programme, the Academic Commission may determine not to admit them.
Whenever necessary, the Academic Commission will assess the relevance of the training complements to be studied by each student. In order to do so, the Commission will analyse the specific needs of each student and state the need and number of complements that will have to be studied by those students from:
-Bachelor’s degrees other than Social Work and similar fields stated on the admission criteria section.
-Master’s degrees not linked to Social Work, Social Policies, Social Intervention, Social Mediation, Dependency, etc.
In order to facilitate the process of completing the training complements, the university will try to facilitate access of these students to subjects being taught within the Master’s degrees of those universities which are taking part in the Inter-university doctoral programme. Master’s degree in Social Intervention with Individuals, Families and Groups (UPNA), Master’s degree in Social Mediation and Master's degree in Dependency (UMU), and Master's degree in Innovation in Social and Educational Intervention (URV).
