Before you register
Choose your doctoral programme and register
In order to access an official doctoral degree students must hold a Spanish official Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and University Master's degree, or equivalent, provided they have passed at least 300 ECTS credits counting both of them.
Also those students who hold the following may access:
- Spanish university degrees or equivalent which have passed at least 300 ECTS credits counting all the degrees, and prove a MECES level 3.
- Degree of the European Higher Education Area that proves a level 7 of the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (MECES) and facilitates access to doctoral studies in the issuing country.
- Foreign degree outside the EHEA, subject to prior verification by the university to ensure it proves a level of education equivalent to a Spanish master's degree and qualifies in the issuing country for access to doctoral studies.
- A different doctoral degree.
- Two years of training within a programme to obtain the official degree of some of the specialities in Health Sciences.

- Motivation letter following these instructions:
- Dully filled in and signed in all its pages. If you do not have a supervisor, you may contact the person in charge of coordinating the programme.
- The signatures of thesis supervisors, tutor (if applicable), head of department and person in charge of the research group must be original. Both thesis supervisors and tutors must be doctors with accredited research experience.
- If there are external supervisors, their simplified CV must be provided.
- Short proposal of the research to carry out according to specifications.
- ID card no, NIE (foreigners’ ID number) or passport
- Degree and master’s degree diplomas, or equivalent, which prove that the student meets the requirements to access the doctoral degree
- Academic records of the access degree.
- For foreign degrees it will be necessary to submit the grade equivalence of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities
Curriculum Vitae - For foreign degrees: certificate proving that the degree grants access to the doctoral degree in the issuing country
- (If appropriate) Recommendation letters from well-known researchers
If your registration depends on receiving a grant or aid, state the information of the call.
If admission is compulsory to apply for the grant you must also specify so.
Within one month after receiving the application, the Academic Commission will decide, and if you are admitted:
- you will be assigned a tutor
- you will be given the registration dates
- you will be assigned training complements, if deemed necessary
EDONA will inform you of the decision made by the Academic Commission.
Once admission has been communicated, you must submit the thesis commitment.
Once the thesis commitment has been submitted, you must register within the deadline established by EDONA.

The doctoral programme fee for academic year 2023/2024 is:
- First annual registration: € 396.87 (tutelage + file opening + administrative fee + insurance younger than 28 years old)
- First half-year registration: € 235.18 (tutelage + file opening + administrative fee + insurance younger than 28 years old)
- Second year and following: € 365.62 (tutelage + file opening + insurance younger than 28 years old)
