Access requirements

In order to access an official doctoral degree students must hold a Spanish official Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and University Master's degree, or equivalent, provided they have passed at least 300 ECTS credits counting both of them.

Specific criteria of the programme

The Academic Commission of the Doctoral programme will examine the applications and decide on admissions taking the following aspects into account::

  • The average grade of the academic record: up to 50 points. The grade will be weighed according to the level of similarity of the degree which grants access to the doctoral programme. The following issues will be valued: a. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent): up to 30 points, and b. Master’s degree education: the average grade will grant candidates up to 20 points.
  • Expression of interest letter: up to 20 points. Doctoral student’s coherence and knowledge will be valued, according to their training level in the specific field they are interested in.
  • Additional experience in introduction to research activities and/or professional experience related related to the programme: up to 15 points.
    • Participation in congresses (up to 5 points),
    • Publications (up to 5 points).
    • Research projects (up to 5 points).
    • Each year of professional experience will be granted 3 points.
  • Proven language skills of scientific interest (up to 5 points).

A minimum of 60 points are required to be admitted..

Recommended admission profile:

The profile of someone who has previously completed a university Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree, preferably research-oriented, related to some aspect of Global Health (health sciences, social sciences, and other related areas such as life sciences, ecology, economics, education, management, etc.).

In any case, to pursue the Doctoral programme in Global Health, the student must have:

  • Specific knowledge in the scientific field of Global Health (health sciences, social sciences, or ecology).
  • The basic technical, instrumental, and methodological skills corresponding to ecology, health sciences, or social sciences
