Grants and activities aiming at UPNA staff
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are short and intensive teaching and learning programmes using innovative methods, including online collaborative work, and promote exchange and teamwork. They may be aimed at students, teaching staff, administrative and services staff, or mixed groups of the three categories.
During these mixed intensive programmes, participants undertake a short physical mobility activity at the organising university, combined with mandatory virtual training. Physical mobility usually lasts between five and ten days, whereas the virtual component's duration is indefinite and can take place before, during, or after the on-site stay.
UNITA has defined six thematic centres (HUBS) to structure research activity within the Alliance and facilitate meetings between researchers from partner universities.
The objectives of the HUBS are:
- To form transnational thematic and interdisciplinary research groups.
- To develop international research projects.
- To share research infrastructures.
- To share postgraduate schools (international master's degrees, international doctoral training)
At UPNA we lead the Digital Transition HUB, together with the Instituto Politécnico da Guarda
UNITA offers Starting Grants directly related to the HUBs' work areas, with the aim of strengthening collaboration among UNITA partners through the implementation of new projects or the consolidation of existing ones.
Applications, which must be submitted by teaching or research staff from at least three different partner universities and include post-doctoral and doctoral researchers in the work group, must be in line with UNITA's thematic priorities for each call.
Matching Events are two-day events offering meeting spaces for teaching staff and researchers. The purpose of these actions is to contribute to the achievement of the Alliance's goals regarding the construction of a UNITA Community through joint actions in Education and Research.
These events are key instruments aligned with UNITA's objectives and vision.
With the financial support of the ERASMUS program, UNITA promotes the design and implementation of BIPs (Blended Intensive Programmes) and COILs (Collaborative Online International Learning).
The objective is to develop joint academic activities between the member universities of the Alliance and promote the mobility of students and staff among them.
BIP (Blended Intensive Programmes) are initiatives within the European framework of the Erasmus+ programme that foster collaboration between partner universities, resulting in joint learning. These programmes combine virtual collaborative teaching and learning among students of these universities with a short-term on-site mobility period.
COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) is a learning methodology based on interaction and collaboration between two classrooms from different countries, which develop a joint activity. This approach connects students and teachers from different cultures, allowing them to learn, discuss, and collaborate as part of the educational programme. COIL is integrated into the course structure, providing all students with a meaningful intercultural experience within their study programme.
