Humanising Healthcare

Humanising healthcare is an ethical matter aligned with human dignity, grounded in the relationship between our healthcare system and the people it serves. It involves placing people at the centre, considering not only patients and their environment but also healthcare professionals.  

This microcredential, designed in collaboration with the Health Service of Navarre, will provide you with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop human-centred leadership, as well as an approach to care, support, and guiding that enhances healthcare practice while ensuring compliance with the rights recognised in current regulations.

The University Microcredential in Humanising Healthcare of Public University of Navarre is designed to enhance the quality of healthcare services. Training in humanisation is essential for providing appropriate and satisfactory care and is aligned with the 2024–2028 Humanisation Strategy of the public healthcare system of Navarre. 

Topics covered will include: Ethics and the bioethical foundations of humanisation, humanisation in management and leadership, universal accessibility and participation, person-centred care, professional care and well-being, and social determinants in the humanisation of health. Participants will also acquire tools to integrate a style of care, communication, and attention that promotes the humanisation of healthcare services.

Admission profile:

  • Professionals working in the Department of Health, the Health Service of Navarre, and/or the Institute of Public and Occupational Health, who identify as agents responsible for promoting humanisation actions, and are between 25 and 64 years old at the start date of the course.

If, after the admission process, there are still available spots, individuals under 25 or over 64 years old - at the start of the course - who meet the profile and access requirements may be admitted. These places will be assigned strictly in order of registration until the quota is filled.

  1. Professionals who meet the candidate profile and access requirements, and were not admitted to the University Microcredential in Internal Communication in Healthcare.
  2. Once the profile and access requirements are met, admission is by order of registration, ensuring proportional representation of all professional areas targeted by the programme.

  • To detect opportunities for improvement in healthcare practice to humanise care for both patients and professionals.

  • Timetable of the First Edition: Wednesdays 2 and 9 April, and 7, 14, 21 and 28 May from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Faculty of Health Sciences at UPNA in Pamplona. 
  • Timetable of the Second Edition: Thursdays 3 and 10 April, and 8, 15, 22 and 29 May from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Hospital of Tudela.
  • Timetable of the Third Edition: Tuesday 30 September, Tuesdays 7, 14, 21, 21 and 28 October and Tuesday 4 May from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Faculty of Health Sciences at UPNA in Pamplona.

The final grade will be determined based on the following weightings:

  • Minimum attendance of 80% of sessions:  20 %
  • Final multiple-choice exam:  80 %

Obtaining the microcredential is subject to passing the enrolled ECTS credits, in accordance with Article 27 of the Regulations Governing UPNA's Own Degree Programmes.

Standard Tuition Fee: € 330

Tuition fee with a discount: 

  • 99 € - 70% funded by European Funds for admitted participants who are between 25 and 64 years old at the start of the course.
  • 0 € - Additional 30% funded by Government of Navarre for individuals who meet the admission profile and are between 25 and 64 years old at the start of the course.
