Dr. Artzai Gaspar holds a degree in Primary Education from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and a European Master in Multilingualism and Education (UPV/EHU & University of Groningen). He obtained an international doctoral degree with the thesis "Learning Academic Language Through Pedagogical Translanguaging in Secondary Education: An Intervention in the Basque Country" (UPV/EHU), supervised by Dr. Karin van der Worp and Prof. Jasone Cenoz.
He has participated in several prominent national and international research projects, including the European Erasmus+ "Linguistically Sensitive Teaching in All Classrooms (LISTIAC)" project, the Minneco project "Pedagogical Translanguaging in the Curriculum (Petranscur)", the "Academic Language Competence and Content Understanding (HIGAEU)" project, and "Investigating Multilingual Competence in Education" project, among others. His research has been presented at numerous national and international conferences. In 2024, he completed a four-month research stay at the Freie Universität Berlin (FU).
His main research interests include language didactics, multilingualism, sociolinguistics, academic language learning, the development of metalinguistic awareness, and the beliefs and perceptions of teachers and future teachers regarding multilingualism.
