He holds a degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Salamanca. He also has a Master’s degree in Functional Analysis and Behavior Modification, with clinical accreditation by the European Federation of Psychologists' Association (Europsy-European Certificate in Clinical and Health Psychology). He has completed predoctoral stays at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) and Southeast Missouri State University (USA), as well as postdoctoral stays at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador), funded by the Prometeo program and the Ecuadorian Government’s Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation; at the Neuroscience and Animal Research Laboratory of the University of Seville; and at the Johns-Hopkins University-Pompeu Fabra University Public Policy Center in Barcelona, both funded by NextGeneration-EU Requalification Fellowships.
He has taught at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Salamanca, where he delivered courses such as Biological Foundations of Behavior, Psychopharmacology, Neuropsychology, Psychoneuroimmunology, and Psychobiology of Addiction in the Psychology undergraduate program. He has also been a faculty member at the School of Biomedical Sciences at the European University of Madrid, teaching subjects including Psychopharmacology, Research Methods in Psychology, Neuropsychology, Psychology of Learning, Psychology of Memory, Psychodiagnostics, Applied Psychosocial Sciences, Medical Humanities, and Professional Internships in the Psychology, Medicine, and Physiotherapy programs. Additionally, he has participated as a lecturer in the Master’s programs in Eating Disorders and Obesity, Research in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, and Clinical and Health Psychology, among others. He has served as a visiting professor at institutions such as the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador), Pomona College (California, USA), the University of Coimbra (Portugal), and the University of Seville (Spain).
His professional achievements have earned him several recognitions, including the Best Teacher Award from the International Education Studies (IES) Abroad Foundation, the Beatriz Galindo/Gloria Begué Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Salamanca, the Teaching Excellence Award at the Public University of Navarre, and the Award for the Best Scientific Publication in Psychology for Young Researchers at the University of Seville. Recently, he was honored as Professor Honoris Causa by the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja.
Currently he is Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA), where he teaches the courses "Introduction to Psychology" and "Learning and Memory" in the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology; "Psychology" in the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine; and the Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology. He is an expert in the program for the accreditation of foreign degrees to the Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). He leads the research group "Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience" and is a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Social Research (I-COMMUNITAS) and the Navarre Health Research Institute (IdisNA) at UPNA. His main research areas include stress and health, learning and memory, and functional analysis of behavior.
