Breve CV

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Salamanca. Master’s Degree in Functional Analysis and Behavior Modification, with clinical experience certified by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EuroPsy).

He has completed predoctoral research stays at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) and Southeast Missouri State University (USA), and postdoctoral stays at the Technical University of Loja (Ecuador), the Neuroscience and Animal Research Laboratory at the University of Seville, and the Johns Hopkins University–Pompeu Fabra Public Policy Center in Barcelona. These latter stays were funded by the Prometeo Program of the Government of Ecuador and the NextGeneration-EU Requalification Grants, respectively.

He has served as a lecturer at the University of Salamanca and at the European University of Madrid, where he taught in undergraduate programs in Psychology and Medicine, as well as in the Master’s in Eating Disorders and Obesity and the Master’s in Research in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. He has also taught in the Master’s in Clinical and Health Psychology at the Technical University of Loja (Ecuador), and has been a visiting professor at Pomona College (California, USA) and the University of Coimbra (Portugal).

He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA), where he teaches in the undergraduate programs in Psychology and Medicine, and in the Master’s in General Health Psychology. He also serves as an expert evaluator for the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) for the recognition of foreign degrees in General Health Psychology. He leads the research group Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience and is a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Social Research (I-COMMUNITAS) and the Navarre Institute for Health Research (IdiSNA). His research spans three main lines. First, he examine the effects of stress on health, with a focus on occupational and public health contexts. Second, the application of principles of learning and functional behaviour analysis to case formulation and psychological intervention design. Third, the role of learning, memory, and cognitive load in higher education through a critical and evidence-based lens, drawing on Cognitive Load Theory to improve instructional design and inform both professional practice and educational policy.

He has been recognized with the Best Teacher Award granted by International Education Studies (IES) Abroad), the Beatriz Galindo/Gloria Begué Award for Teaching Excellence from the University of Salamanca, the Teaching Excellence Award from the Public University of Navarre, and the highest academic distinction as Professor Honoris Causa awarded by the Technical University of Loja (Ecuador).
