Alberto Berrueta achieved his Ph. D. diploma at UPNA in December 2017. He had previously completed the M. Sc. in Industrial Engineering (2013) and M. Sc. in Renewable Energies: Power Generation (2014), also at UPNA. He is currently vice-dean of the Faculty of Industrial and ICT Engineering, responsible of the Bachelor Degree of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
He belongs since 2013 to the UPNA research group on Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics and Renewable Energies (INGEPER), and since 2015 to the Institute of Smart Cities. He has made research stays in three German research centres: Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (September 2016 - February 2017), RWTH Technical University of Aachen (July - September 2019) and Technical University of Berlin (June - August 2022). His main research interests are electrochemical and ageing mechanisms of Lithium-ion batteries, as well as the application of these batteries to renewable energy systems. This research has led so far to the publication of 15 research papers in international journals, 28 international conference contributions, and 2 book chapters; as well as to the participation in 15 public research projects and 19 R&D contracts with companies.
Since September 2017 he works as Assistant Professor at UPNA, where he teaches courses related to Electrical Engineering and Energy Storage. Due to his interest in scientific and technical dissemination, he takes an active role on the activities organized by the student's association APERNA (promotion of renewable energies).
