Education
Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarre. PhD from the School of Agricultural Engineering of the Public University of Navarre (UPNA) with the thesis titled "The Spodoptera exigua nucleopolyhedrovirus: genetic diversity and recombination". Predoctoral stays at: Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands (1 year), University of Guelph, Canada (1 month), and National Agricultural Research Institute of Alés, France (1 month). Postdoctoral research stages at: Imperial College London, UK (15 months) and University of California Irvine, US (1 year).
Academic career
Appointed Assistant Professor in 1998 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2003 (current position) by the Department of Crop Production from the School of Agricultural Engineering (UPNA).
Teaching activities: courses on Crop Protection to undergraduate and master students of the Agricultural Engineering School (in English since the academic year 2010-2011) and on Entomophagy to undergraduate students of the same school.
Research activities: involved in 11 research projects dealing with entomopathogens as biocontrol agents of agricultural pests, three of them as an IP of projects funded by the Government of Navarre (2005-2007), the Spanish Ministry (2009-2011) and the European Union (2013-2017). Mentor of five PhD theses in the 2005-2015 period. Author of: 45 peer-reviewed scientific papers of which more than half are in the Q1; more than 100 communications to international and national congresses; two book chapters; and of one biotechnological patent. Granted three six-year research periods by the Spanish Ministry of Education, the last one in July 2013.
