Breve CV

Jesús Francisco Palacián Subiela completed a five-year degree in Science (Applied Mathematics) at University of  Zaragoza (1988). After three years enjoying a predoctoral grant (FPI) got his doctorate in 1992 in Applied Mathematics, also from the University of  Zaragoza.

From 1992 to 1995 he was associate lecturer in the department of Applied Mathematics at University of  Zaragoza. From July 1993 to September 1994, he worked as visiting scientific in the Department of Mission Analysis at ESOC of the European Space Agency, in Darmstadt (Germany). In September of 1995  he joined the Public University of Navarre as Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics. Since then he has been involved in teaching activities, in the branch of Applied Mathematics, delivering classes at various faculties and schools, mostly at the Technical Schools of Agricultural Engineering and of Industrial and Telecommunications Engineering. He has taught several courses for master and doctorate degrees. He has taught subjects of differential equations, dynamical systems and celestial mechanics at undergraduate and master levels in the Universities of Los Andes in Mérida (Venezuela) and of Bío-Bío in Concepción (Chile). Since 2008 he is Full Professor of Applied Mathematics. His academic activity can be found in the web pages devoted to teaching, mentoring and research (projects and papers). Between 2014 and 2016 he was responsible in the Public University of the Máster Interuniversitario en Modelización e Investigación Matemática, Estadística y Computación.

His research activities are related to the qualitative theory of differential equations, dynamical systems and applications in celestial mechanics, atomic physics and molecular dynamics. He has co-authored about 145 research papers, 85 of them in JCR journals. He has co-edited a special volume in the journal Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems. He has made about 190 presentation in international and national conferences, meetings and workshops, 55 of them as invited lectures. He has made research stays for an amount of over five years, the main ones in the Observatory of Brussels (Belgium), Universities of Leiden (The Netherlands), Bristol (United Kingdom), Córdoba (Argentina), Cincinnati and West Virginia (U.S.A.), Bío-Bío (Chile), Los Andes (Venezuela) and Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico). He has participated in 25 research projects of European, national and autonomical nature, and has been the principal researcher in five of them.  He has collaborated in ten contracts with companies (OTRI), in particular with Cisi Ingenierie and the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales in Toulouse (France). Starting in 2003 he is responsible of the research group "Problemas Diferenciales y Aproximación de Superficies". For additional information, visit the pages about research projects, publications, etc.

He has obtained five six-year research periods (sexenios) and six five-year teaching periods (quinquenios), the last periods got in 2019.

Regarding university management activities, he has been responsible for the teaching organisation of Applied Mathematics branch (October, 2000 to October, 2002), he has served as a member of the School Board of Agricultural Engineering (October, 2000 to January, 2002), member of the University Senate between July of 2002 to November of 2003,  and Secretary of the Doctoral Committee (January of 2002 to February of 2004), member of the Commission of Research Activities between February, 2004 to February, 2010 and member of the Teaching and Research Staff Hiring Grievance Committee, starting in January of 2018.
