How to get to Pamplona

Pamplona is a cosmopolitan city in the north of Spain well connected with the major cities in the neighbouring provinces. It is located at 407 km from Madrid, 450 km from Barcelona and 174 km from Zaragoza.

You can arrive by car, bus, train or plane. The new bus station is located in the city centre, in Calle Yanguas y Miranda. The Renfe train station is in the San Jorge neighborhood, and offers different routes linking Pamplona to numerous cities in Spain. The airport is 6 km out of the city, in the town of Noain.

By car

Main highways:

  • North - the A15 motorway from San Sebastian or Vitoria (1 hour).
  • East - the A12 motorway from Logroño (50 minutes)
  • South - the AP15 + A68 motorway from Zaragoza (2 hours)
  • West - the A21 motorway from Jaca (Pyrenees) (1 ½ h).

By Plane

The Pamplona airport is located in the town of Noain, at 5 km from Pamplona. The airport terminal was built in 2010 and regular flights  between Pamplona and Madrid, Valencia  and Gran Canaria. Keep in mind that there is no left luggage service in the airport.

To get to the conference venue from the airport, we suggest you to take a taxi. There is a taxi stand in front of the airport. The cost of the taxi drive to the Public University of Navarre should be around 15€.

Alternatively, Bilbao airport (90 min drive) with many more international flights and Biarritz airport (70 min. drive) across the French border can be used.

By Train

Pamplona can be easily reached as well by frequent fast train services from Madrid (3 hours) and Barcelona (3h 45min) as well as other cities in Spain. The railway station is located in the San Jorge district, not far from the downtown. For information on routes, timetables and prices, you can visit the Renfe website: www.renfe.com.

There is a taxi stand in front of the railway station. It takes around 15 minutes from the train station to the conference venue. There is also a bus stop (lines 7 and 9) that connects the station to the conference venue and city center. Detailed information about the city buses can be found in this link.

You can get the discount on tickets for national routes (one way or return ticket) to Pamplona from 07/05/2024 to 12/05/2024.

By Bus

Bus companies run different services from Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, etc. Pamplona bus station is situated in the downtown, calle Yanguas y Miranda. You can use the phone number 34 948 42 22 42 or the web www.estaciondeautobusesdepamplona.com.

There is taxi stand in front of the bus station, and several urban bus lines depart near the bus station.

The conference venue is located at 15 minutes walking from the bus station.

 

HOW TO GET AROUND IN PAMPLONA

Walking through the center of Pamplona is a very rewarding experience, almost the entire center is designed to move around on foot.

But if you need to use public transport you can choose:

  • Taxi:  If you want a taxi service in Pamplona, we recommend calling the following phone numbers (+34) 948 221 212, (+34) 948 232 300 or (+34) 948 351 400. You can also find information in www.taxipamplona.com. Taxis rarely stop in the street, it is advisable to go to a taxi stop or request one by phone.
  • Urban bus ("villavesas"). Urban buses in Pamplona are named "villavesas". You can check your route in www.infotuc.es
