Created in January 2022, NILSA Chair in Local Sustainability is the first research chair established between a university and a public company in Navarre. Under the name Nilsa Chair in Local Sustainability, a collaboration and knowledge exchange forum has been built between both institutions. The chair also means a big support on the practical application of scientific studies at the service of Navarre.
NILSA is a company linked to the Land Cohesion Department of the Government of Navarre, and it is responsible for municipalities’ water sanitation and purifying. It also manages the Waste Consortium of Navarre. It is strategically focused on the promotion of R&D&I, and this has made it possible for the chair to be born, after cooperating with UPNA for years in different projects.
The chairs also seeks to generate synergies between both institutions, making it possible for UPNA students to carry out internships and end-of-studies projects at NILSA, as well as industrial doctoral studies.
Among the different activities developed by the chair are holding conferences and informational and training courses intended for professionals, researchers, students and society in general.
