Breve CV

Jorge Elso Torralba obtained a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Public University of Navarra in 2005, and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the same university in 2012. In 2012 and 2013 he worked as a fellow researcher at the University of the Basque Country. He has completed two research stays at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (USA). Since 2018, he is assistant professor at the Public University of Navarra and a member of the Dynamic and Control Systems research group.

He teaches subjects related to control and automation in Spanish and English, such as Automatic Control, Robust Control Engineering, Electronics and Automation or Industrial Robotics and Automata. He is the creator of the YouTube channel controltheoryorg, dedicated to the teaching of automatic control. In 2016 he received the UPNA’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

His research activity focuses on robust control and its application on multivariate, non-linear and distributed parameter systems. His main contributions are framed in the quantitative feedback theory or QFT. He has published 12 articles in international magazines and has made a dozen contributions to conferences. He has worked in close collaboration with companies in the wind-power industry since 2013, contributing to the application of robust techniques to turbine control systems and the design of algorithms to estimate variables which are difficult to access. He has also contributed to the training of engineers working in these companies through seminars and training courses. All this activity has led to 18 transfer contracts. He is currently supervising three PhD students.

In the field of management, he was Vice-Dean for International Relations at UPNA’s School of Industrial and ICT Engineering (ETSIIIT) between June 2016 and June 2019. Since 2019, he is Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation.
