Refractive index measurements by means of LMRs generated by means of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coatings fabricated by sputtering.

The variation of the refractive index (RI) of the medium in contact with the ITO LMR supporting coatings produces a change in the light at the output of the fiber. When the sensitive region is surrounded by different media, such as air (n=1), water (n=1.33) and glycerin/water 80% (n=1.45) the light at the output of the fiber is yellow, orange and purple respectively.
