PhD in History (1997) by the University of Zaragoza with a doctoral thesis supervised by Prof. Domingo Gallego. I taught at the Teruel and Zaragoza campuses of the University of Zaragoza (1991-97) and in the departments of Geography and History (1997-2001) and Economics at the Public University of Navarra. I have performed academic management tasks as Deputy Head of the Department of Economics (2016-2018) and Secretary of the Academic Committee of the PhD Programme in Economics, Business and Law (2017-2021).
From September 2019 to December 2023 I served as Editor-in-chief of the indexed journal Historia Agraria (JCR Q1 History 2023), whose Editorial board I joined in 2014. Between 2000 and 2005 I chaired the Navarrese Institute for Economic and Social History "Gerónimo de Uztariz", and between 2002 and 2009 I was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Agrarian History Studies (SEHA). Between 2009 and 2018 I was in charge of the R&D contents of the website of the Spanish Association of Economic History (AEHE). I complete my membership of scientific organisations with the Association for Contemporary History (AHC), the Association for Historical Demography (ADEH), the Association for Economic History of the Caribbean (AHEC), the World Economics Association (WEA), the European Rural History Association (EURHO), and the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC).
I have been principal investigator (IP) in six consecutive projects of the Plan Nacional de I+D+i related to communal resources, collective action and social capital (HUM2006-01277, HAR2009-09700, HAR2012-30732, HAR2015-64076-P, PID2019-109336GB-I00, PID2023-148959NB-I00), and collaborated in other international projects directed from the University of Utrecht (Commons Rules. The regulation of institutions for managing commons in Europe, 1100-1800), the International Institute of Social History of Amsterdam (Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations, 1500-2000), the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales of Paris (COST A35 PROGRESSORE - Programme for the Study of European Rural Societies) and the Poznan University of Life Science (COST CA22155 EU-PoTaRCh - Network for forest by-products charcoal, resin, tar, potash). I coordinate the UPNA-315 "History and Economics" Research Group, positively evaluated by ANEP (National Agency for Evaluation and Foresight) in 2008 (60/100), 2010 (75/100), 2012 (78/100), 2016 (85/100), 2018 (92/100) and 2022 (90/100).
