IMAB (Institute for Multidisciplinary Research in Applied Biology) aims to coordinate and boost research and train researchers on the fields of biology applied to the agronomy, environment and health fields, fostering a multidisciplinary approach, being the study and the application of processes and systems based on cells, organisms and communities their common link.

IMAB ultimately intends to foster the development of a Bio-economy based on knowledge which improves competitiveness within companies of the health, agri-food, industrial and environmental sectors, taking part in research activities which cover the four big areas of Biotechnology (agriculture, environment, health and industry), the participation in projects on biofuels production and development of cross-cutting tools which make it possible to move faster on these fields (development of new genetic engineering tools, bioinformatics, systems biology, etc)
