General Information about Pamplona

Pamplona is a comfortable, welcoming, modern, green, safe city with a wide gastronomic offer based on local produce.

Capital of the Autonomous Community of Navarre, it is an ideal place to discover the historical and cultural legacy of the Camino de Santiago, visit the Bardenas Reales, a desert declared a Biosphere Reserve, get lost in nature in places like the Irati Forest, the Baztan Valley or the source of the Urederra or be surprised by the Romanesque treasures that are part of its heritage.

Visit the Pamplona turism website and the Navarra turism website.

How to get there?

Navarra has direct flights to Madrid and daily trains to cities in the northern half of the country. If we head south we can also do it via Zaragoza.

Both Renfe and Air Nostrum have connections from Madrid that arrive daily in Pamplona at midday, around 2:00 pm.

Pamplona City Council, through its agreement with Renfe for the promotion of events and congresses in the city, offers a discount to people registered in the XIII Congress of the Spanish Chpater of the ESB 2024. If you are going to use this means of transport, please mention the attendance to the Congress when booking.

It is easy to reach by road:

  • The journey by car from neighboring San Sebastian-Donostia, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Logroño costs about an hour. Access from the first two is via the AP-15 freeway, which is toll-paid, while from the third is via the A-12 highway, which is free of charge.
  • Less than two hours away is also Bilbao, from which it is possible to access by the AP-15; and Zaragoza, connected to Pamplona by the AP-68 and AP-15 freeways.
  • From Madrid, it is possible to get there in just over four hours by car. Although there are different options, the most frequent route is to take the A-2 highway to Medinaceli, then take the N-111 to Soria and then the N-122 to Tudela, where it is possible to take the AP-15 to the capital of Navarre.
  • To arrive from Barcelona, the most popular option is to take the AP-2 to Zaragoza, and there take the AP-68 and then the AP-15 to Pamplona.
