Título: Growth, inequality and conflict (trabajo conjunto con Julian Díaz-Saavedra y Jose Enrique Galdon-Sanchez)

Abstract: The relationship between growth and inequality has been analyzed using mostly transmission mechanisms through the sphere of production, ignoring the role of inequality in the individual's preferences. In this project, we include a negative externality in the utility function to show how a rise in inequality increases the probability of generating conflicts, which would have a negative impact on production. In this way, redistribution policies can have a positive impact on economic growth, which contradicts the traditional view of the literature.
