Doctoral Workshop of INARBE and IS-FOOD held on Water-Energy-Food Nexus

Dealing with energy, food and water issues in isolation might entail trade-offs between these domains. On July 18, 2019, twenty researchers and professionals from different disciplinary backgrounds gathered at the Public University of Navarra for a one-day workshop organized by Diego Sesma Martín at INARBE and Maite M. Aldaya at IS-FOOD to address the water-energy-food nexus synergies and challenges in Spain and beyond.

 The workshop provided an overview of the state-of-the-art, gaps and advances on the water-food-energy research, existing data and potential indicators to cope with projected forecasts. The speakers, panellist and attendees, representing the academia, private and public sector, provided thought-provoking perspectives on the challenges that confront us.

Diego Sesma Martín is a researcher at INARBE with the support from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) research project HAR2014-53825-R and HAR2017-86086-R (AEI/FEDER, UE) and research contract BES-2015-074128. Maite M. Aldaya is a researcher at IS-FOOD with the support of the Talent Grant of Obra Social LaCaixa and Caja Navarra Foundation.
