BRIEF NARRATIVE

Cristina Garcia-Vivar received her BSc in Nursing (2000) at the University of Navarra (Spain) and her MSc (2002) and PhD (2007) in Nursing Science from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). She is currently Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Department of Health Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Public University of Navarre, Spain. Fellow Ad Eundem of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, RCSI, Dublin. Cristina´s research focuses on promoting the health of families living with cancer and chronic illness, particularly the experience of cancer survivorship, and improving knowledge translation of family system nursing practice. She is also interested in promoting efficient and holistic nursing care for cancer patients and their families in Primary Health Care. Cristina´s teaching areas in the degrees of Bachelor and Master of Nursing Science include the following subjects: Family and Community Nursing; The Family as the Unit of Care; Advanced Nursing Role; Qualitative Research; and Nursing Research. Dr García-Vivar has published numerous articles in national and international journals; 3 books and 9 books chapters; more than 120 presentations at national and international conferences and seminars. In the past five years, she has participated, as principal investigator and partner researcher, in different national, European and international projects. She is member of various national and European research groups, including “Chronic Illness and End of Life Care” (University of Navarra, Spain); Innovative Nursing Practices -"INNO-CARE (Public University of Navarre, Spain); "Nursing Care" (Institute of Health Research of Navarra, Spain); FaCE- Family Focused Healthcare Research Center (University of Southern Denmark, Denmark); and the group FAME- FAMily health in Europe. She is also an ongoing member of the International Steering Committee responsible for the development and implementation of a European Centre of Research Excellence - Continuing Professional Development for Nursing and Midwifery, based at the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin. Since 2014, she serves as Board of Directors of the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA).
