Dr. Abián Bentor Socorro Leránoz is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering belonging to the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), within the area of Electronic Technology. His education includes: B.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering (2010), M. Sc. in Biomedical Engineering (2012) and PhD in Engineering with "Cum Laude" and "International" mentions (2015), all from UPNA. In addition, he is a member of the UPNA Institute of Smart Cities (ISC) and the Navarra Health Research Institute (IdISNa), as well as the Spanish Societies of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB) and Optics (SEDOPTICA).
TEACHING ACTIVITY
Since the 2013/2014 course, he has worked as a Teaching Collaborator, Assistant Professor and Non-permanent Associate Professor, teaching electronics and engineering instrumentation subjects. Today, he accumulates more than 1.485 teaching hours in various Bachellor and Master degrees in engineering. He has co-directed 20 final studies projects, has contributed to 5 teaching conferences and participates in 2 educational innovation projects. In addition, he is currently the Academic Secretary of the Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering at UPNA.
RESEARCH AND TRANSFER ACTIVITY
His main research line is the development and characterization of optical sensors and biosensors coated by nanostructured materials. This has made him co-author 41 scientific publications (31 of them Q1-Q2), and 50 contributions in conferences, seminars and workshops. Likewise, he has participated in 25 competitive research projects in national and regional calls, with private companies and OTRI contracts. Among other merits, he has completed a research stay at the Armani Lab of the University of Southern California (USA, 2014), co-directs 3 doctoral theses, evaluates projects for the Spanish Research Agency since 2017, and reviews research articles in international journals. He also has 2 six-year research periods recognized by the CNEAI and another 2 awarded by the Government of Navarra.
According to Scopus, his research has been referenced 1146 times, which gives him a parameter h = 21. He has received three awards throughout his research career.
Regarding transfer, he owns the co-authorship of a national patent and a utility model and a European patent application. He has also been a promoter of the UPNA spin-off Eversens (2015). Regarding scientific dissemination, he has coordinated a book (“Destellos de Luz”, UPNA, 2015). Also, he gives talks related to telecommunications and biomedical engineering, with the goal of attracting more talent towards STEM disciplines.
