Mehdi earned a bachelor of Statistics from Shahid Chamran University, Ahvaz, Iran, in July 2011, and a master of Mathematical Statistics from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran, in September 2013. As an early-stage researcher, he joined the European project GEO-C in October 2015, and obtained his Ph.D. in Spatial Statistics from Jaume I University, Castellón, Spain, in November 2018. Thereafter, as a postdoc, he joined the Spatial Statistics group at the Public University of Navarre, Pamplona, Spain, in July 2019. From September 2020, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Sciences at the Public University of Navarre. His main research interests fall within the field of spatial statistics with the focus on spatial and spatio-temporal point processes, linear networks, trajectories, change-point detection, disease mapping, and R programming.
