Subject Matter: Fundamentals of Plant Production



- Integration and analysis of social, political and economical factors regulating plant production.

- Analysis, design and management of agricultural systems to render them more productive and sustainable.

- Identification and integration of biotic factors regulating and affecting agricultural ecosystems.


General proficiencies

  • CT7. Ability to solve problems with creativity, initiative, methodology, and critical thinking.
  • CB1: Students are able to demonstrate they have acquired knowledge and understanding in a field of study based on the basic foundations gained within their general secondary education together with the support of advanced textbooks and aspects of the latest advances in the field.
  • CB2:Students can apply their knowledge to a job or vocation in a professional manner and have the competences which are generally shown through the elaboration and defence of arguments and problem solving in their field of study.
  • CB3:Students have the ability to collect and interpret relevant data (generally within their field of study) in order to make judgments which include reflection on relevant issues of social, scientific or ethical nature.


Specific proficiencies

  •  CG2. Sound knowledge of physical problems, technologies, machinery, and water and energetic systems, of the limits imposed by budget and construction regulations, of the relationships between facilities or buildings and agricultural exploitations, agri-food industries and spaces related to gardening and landscaping with their social and environmental surroundings, and of the need to relate all these with human necessities and environmental preservation.
  • CE10: Ability to recognize and utilize the base principles of plant production, and production, protection, and exploitation systems.

  • R2. To understand and integrate the abiotic factors that control and condition agricultural ecosystems.

  • R3. To analyze and design agricultural systems in order to get more productivity and sostenibility.
