La asignatura tiene como contenido, en primer lugar, la delimitación de los antecedentes, concepto y fuentes del Derecho Mercantil. En segundo lugar, el estudio de la figura del empresario y de su estatuto jurídico, incidiendo en las diferentes clases que podemos encontrar, sus colaboradores y el régimen de la competencia. El tercer núcleo lo constituyen las sociedades mercantiles con un tratamiento detallado de los diferentes tipos de sociedades, con especial atención a la sociedad anónima.
