It is widely recognized that people are a key source of firm's competitive advantage. Consequently it is essential for organizations to have an effective system for obtaining, mobilizing and managing the organization's human assets. This course is designed to provide an introduction to the concepts, challenges and prospects of managing people in today's organizations. The issues covered in the course are: the strategic role of people, job analysis and planning, staffing, training, careers, performance appraisal, compensation and labor relations.
The approach to these issues combines description, theoretical contributions from economics, psychology and sociology and practice.
