"Colour Coding for Brillouin distributed sensors"

Sebastien Le Floch, HE-ARC (Suiza)

Abstract:

Brillouin distributed sensors consist in a 3D mapping (signal vs time and frequency) in order to get local informations such as tempertaure or strain in a sensing fiber. Colour coding is able to retrieve these distributed Brillouin gain spectra and represents an elegant way to enhance the signal-to-noise-ratio while keeping a fast acquisition rate. This translates into increased sensing distances and/or high spatial resolution.

Sébastien Le Floch - M.S. degree, Univ. Brest France (1996) - Ph D. degree in science, Univ. Brest France (2001) - Research Associate at EPFL and Omnisens, Switzerland (2002-2003) - Research Associate, then Prof. at Haute Ecole ARC, Neuchâtel, Switzerland (2004-2015). Primary research area: absolute distance measurement by optical interferometry and stimulated brillouin scattering in optical fibers (cryogenic sensors, colour codes).
