I collect here some useful links, from my point of view obviously
University and related things
Departamento de Ingeniería Matemática e informática: Department of Mathematical and Computing Engeenering in the Public University of Navarre.
Red Iris (the electronic addresses of all Spanish universities are listed there).
Links collected by Public University of Navarre. More of them in Spanish, including libraries, newspapers,...
Numerical Methods for Partial Differential and Integral Equations. The address of my investigation group. You can also visit the personal webs of
members of this group.
Aprenda Matlab 6.5 como si estuviera en primero (in spanish) A short introductory course in Matlab by Javier García de Jalón.
Cleve Moler's home page : with a very interesting book in numerical computing with Matlab. All the chapters are downloable. Matlab was actually developed by Cleve Moler in the late 1970s. So, he is the right guy to talk about this business!!
Classical numerical methods (and not so classical) implemented in Matlab (with a very friendly graphic user interface) by Prof. K.E. Atkinson. Good for teaching!!. I also recommend to visit his website devoted to Numerical analysis.
Some disasters caused by numerical errors a very interesting web where one can be surprised by the consequences of a simple round-off error.
Mathematics (in general)
Mathworld An encyclopedia in Mathematics. Maybe too much devoted to Pure Mathematics.
The MacTutor History of Mathematics archive. A very complete archive on the history of the Mathematics and its mathematician. Again, it is written from a pure mathematics point of view, its almost impossible to find a topic on applied or numerical mathematics, but even so it is a very interesting page.
Astroseti (spanish) Initially this web was about astronomy and astrobiology (you know the only scientific discipline which nowadays has nothing specific to study). From time to time there is some article on mathematics, usually the Spanish translation of an article in the The MacTutor History of Mathematics archive.
Mathscinet (if subscribed) For searching articles, papers,... in the Mathematical sciences.
Science direct Another useful database of scientific works.
Journal of citation reports (you know, publish or perish)
Miscellaneous
Currency converter . A calculator to convert different currencies. Updated every day (almost all the world's currency are included there).
Wikipedia. The most popular free encyclopaedia in the Web. Growing every day. Here is the link to the Spanish version
gmaps. Wonderful
fogonazos another science blog written by Aberron. In both, spanish and english. I enjoy it very, very much.
More blogs on science, computing, astonishing facts,... : Historias de la ciencia (History of Science, mantained by Omaled), microsiervos.com, eltamiz.com (antes simplista que incomprensible), changlonet (computing). All of them are in spanish
My intention is to extend this section posting any link that I think would be of interest as quickly as I can. Obviously, I am open to any suggestion!!
