Curriculum

English:

Ignacio Del Villar obtained a Doctorate in Telecommunications Engineering with a specialty in fiber optic sensors in 2006 at the Public University of Navarra. In 2024 he reached the position of Full Professor of Electronic Technology in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is a member of the Institute of Smart Cities

Between 2019 and 2023 he was director of the Electronic Technology Area and Secretary of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering.

He currently teaches subjects in the field of Electronics and Industrial Communications and has published two books related to these topics.

His research is focused on the field of sensors, where he has been co-author of six books and editor of the book Optical Fiber Sensors: Fundamentals for Development of Optimized Devices (Wiley-IEEE). In addition, he is co-author of more than 200 publications in international journals and conferences, editor of the magazines Optics and Laser Technology and Sensors, as well as co-founder of the spin-offs Eversens and Pyroistech.

He has also published two informative books on biographies of scientists in the field of dialogue between science and faith, and is a member of the Society of Catholic Scientists.

Ignacio Del Villar obtuvo el Doctorado en Ingeniería de Telecomunicación con especialidad en sensores de fibra óptica en 2006 en la Universidad Pública de Navarra. En 2024 alcanzó la plaza de Catedrático de Tecnología Electrónica en el Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica y Electrónica y es miembro de Institute of Smart Cities

Entre 2019 y 2023 fue director del Área de Tecnología Electrónica y Secretario del Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica, Electrónica y Comunicación.

Actualmente imparte asignaturas del campo de la Electrónica y las Comunicaciones Industriales y ha publicado dos libros relativos a estas temáticas.

Su investigación está centrada en el ámbito de los sensores, donde ha sido coautor en seis libros y editor del libro Optical Fibre Sensors: Fundamentals for Development of Optimized Devices (Wiley-IEEE). Además, es coautor de más de 200 publicaciones en revistas y congresos internacionales, editor en las revistas Optics and Laser Technology y Sensors, así como cofundador de las spin-off Eversens y Pyroistech

Además ha publicado dos libros divulgativos sobre biografías de científicos en el ámbito del diálogo entre ciencia y fe, y es miembro la Society of Catholic Scientists
