ORAHS 2016 will take place at the Campus Arrosadía  of  the Public University of Navarre (www. unavarra.es) in  Pamplona, Spain. Campus Arrosadía is situated in the south-east of Pamplona, in the Arrosadia area. The conference venue is "El Sario" building.

How to arrive in Pamplona

Pamplona is well connected with all the other towns in Navarre, and with the major cities in the neighbouring provinces. It is 407 km far from Madrid, 450 km far from Barcelona, 158 km far from Bilbao and 92 km far from San Sebastian. It is the crossover point between the Autonomous Basque Country and the Ebro Valley.

By car

Main highways:

  • North - the A15 motorway  to San Sebastian or Vitoria (1hour) and to Biarritz o Hendaya (2h) in France.
  • East - the A12 motorway to Logroño (50minutes)
  • Sud - the AP15 + A68 motorway to Zaragoza (2hours)
  • West - the A21 motorway* to Jaca (Pyrenees) (1 ½ h)

*(it is not finished yet, 30 minutes by road)

 By Plane

Pamplona Airport, also called Noain Airport, is located in the vicinity of Pamplona (6 km to the downtown).

There is a taxi stand in front of the airport (taxi phone number 34 948 232 300 or 34  948 351 335). It takes around 10-15 minutes and the price is about 15 euros. There is not connecting bus from the airport to the downtown.

The nearest International Airport is Bilbao Airport, about 2 hours from Pamplona or Biarritz Airport in France 2 hours from Pamplona. Other important international airports are Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona airport.

  • To arrive in Pamplona from Bilbao Airport.

The best way is by bus, the train is so difficult and slowly.

To get to the Bus Station of Bilbao (called Termibus)  from the Airport  there is bus  service, every 30 minutes, called  Bizkaibus. The journey from the bus station to the airport takes approximately 35 minutes and the ticket is paid on board (about 3 euros). Bizkaibus

  • To arrive in Pamplona from Biarritz Airport

  • To arrive in Pamplona from Madrid-Barajas Airport

The best way is by train but there is a direct bus (Bus Madrid-Barajas Airport-Pamplona) from the airport but with few trips a day.

There is public transport (bus, underground, suburban train) from the Madrid- Barajas airport to the  railway station Puerta de Atocha. Public transport Madrid-Barajas airport

From the Puerta de Atocha station you can get the ALVIA train to Pamplona, takes approximately 3h Train Madrid-Pamplona

  • To arrive in Pamplona from Barcelona Airport

The best way is by train.

There is public transport (bus, underground, suburban train) from the Barcelona airport to the  railway station Sants. Public transport Barcelobna airport

From the Sants station  you can get the ALVIA train to Pamplona, takes approximately 4h Train Barcelona -Pamplona

By Train 

The railway station in Pamplona, called Pamplona/Iruña,  is located in the district of San Jorge, not far from the downtown, and has regular train lines with Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza and other cities in Spain. For timetables and prices visit www.renfe.com or phone the 902240202.

There is regular bus line from the station train to downtown and a taxi stand in front of the railway station  (contacting taxi by phone 34 948 232 300; 34  948 351 335).

  • Hendaye (France), Railway Station on the border: Hendaye (France)/Irun (Spain) 

Hendaye is the last French town before reaching Spain when coming from the south-west France. Several high speed trains connect Hendaya with Paris (in  only 5 hours) and other cities in France. See more in  http://en.voyages-sncf.com/en/

  • Several high speed trains leave Paris Montparnasse every day. Hendaye is only 5 hours from the centre of the capital.

Hendaya stands on the right bank of the Bidassoa river that marks the border with Spain. Irun is the  Spanish  town on the left border an San Sebastian is very close. From Irun  or San Sebastian you can get to Pamplona by train ( www.renfe.com) or by bus (Bus Irun-Pamplona) and  (Bus San Sebastian-Pamplona).

Irun/Hendaye (crossing the border) or San Sebastian/Hendaya

If you need to change trains between Irun & Hendaye, crossing the border, there are a couple of options: 

  • Shuttle bus: There is frequent train, called the EuskoTren which runs between San Sebastian and Hendaye, stopping at Irun on route. It is for free and runs twice an hour from 07:00 to 22:00, taking around 6 mins.   • Taxi: There is a taxi depot at either station. The journey takes no more than 10 mins and costs around €15.

By Bus

Pamplona bus station is situated in the downtown,  Yanguas y Miranda street. It is well connected with other areas in the city by public transport: bus stop and  taxi stand are located in front of the bus station  (taxi phones: 34 948 232 300, 34  948 351 335).
