Background

Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA) has recently signed a letter of adherence to the "European Charter for Researchers" and "Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers" emphasizing on its commitment and determination to support this initiative, which aims to promote and improve the recruitment, working conditions and research career of researchers, thus contributing to the development of the European Research Area.

Following the recommendations of the European Commission, and in order to define its "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers" (HRS4R), UPNA has established a Steering Committee and a Working Group to carry out an internal analysis and determine the degree of compliance with the principles of the "Charter and Code" as well as with the regional, national and European legislation.

The results of this analysis will detect those points and aspects that require and deserve special attention in the fields of policy and management of human resources in research. These points will be then included in an Action Plan headed toward the improvement of the professional welfare of researchers, their acquisition of better skills and competences and the development of their career, according to the recommendations of the HRS4R.
