Learning outcomes

R1. Student should know the relationship between economic growth, population health and health services. They should also be able to work with variables such as health expenditure, as well as understand the factors that influence health expenditure, health policies and health plans (CE01, CE04)

R2. Student should know the main characteristics of health markets and the theories that explain the behavior of individuals on both the demand and supply sides. (CE01, CE04)

R3. The student should understand the functioning of the public sector in health as well as its efficiency problems and proposals to improve public management in health (CE01, CE04)

R4. The student will learn techniques of economic evaluation of health technologies, especially the methodology of Cost-Effectiveness Analysis and Cost-Utility Analysis (CE07, CE08, CE09)

R5. The student will learn about equity in health as well as criteria on regional equity in decentralized models. The student will study the health financial system in Spain and its current problems. (CE07, CE08, CE09)

R6. The student will be familiar with the debate on health system reforms, in Spain and in other countries. (CE07, CE08, CE06)

The student will be able at the end of the course to respond to efficiency and equity problems about health systems (CE07, CE08)
