Regulations governing the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration (A.51/2010. Board of Governors 8-10-2010 and Official Gazette of Navarre No. 132, of 29-10-2010)

OBJECT

The aim of the present regulations is to construct a specific educational programme so that students can take the official Bachelor’s degree in Management and Business Administration, and the Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the same time with at least 50% of the teaching activities in English.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

  1. The present regulations apply to the teaching activities which the University offers as part of the specific educational programme for the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration.
  2. The International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration specifically organises the respective teaching activities so that students registered for the two official qualifications who pass the contents of the aforementioned programme may simultaneously obtain an official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and an official Undergraduate Degree in Economics, both with at least 50% of the teaching activities in English and valid throughout Spain.
  3. The academic system, the delivery of education, student evaluation and, in general, all the academic aspects of the specific educational programme for theInternational Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration are governed by the provisions of the present agreement. The University’s general regulations governing studies are to be considered supplementary to the present agreement for all matters which the latter fails to cover.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACADEMIC SYSTEM

Admission to the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration implies acceptance by students of the specific academic system applicable to it, according to the present provisions.

ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT AND DIRECTOR

  1. The relevant Academic Committee is in charge of the academic management of the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration.
  2. The position of Director of the Double Degree will be held by a Vice-Dean of the Faculty who is a member of the university teaching bodies.

COMPOSITION OF THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE

  1. The Academic Committee consists of the following members:
    • The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Science, chairing the committee.
    • The Vice-Deans of the Faculty of Economics and Business Science in charge of the Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and the Undergraduate Degree in Economics.
    • The Director.
    • The International Mobility Coordinators for the Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and the Undergraduate Degree in Economics.
  2. One of the Vice-Deans will act as Secretary of the Academic Committee on an alternate basis every eight academic semesters.

FUNCTIONS OF THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE

  1. The Academic Committee of the Faculty is responsible, in general, for the academic management of the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration, and, specifically, the following functions:
    • Proposing the limit on new places for each academic year to the competent Vice-rector.
    • The academic organisation of the Double Degree.
    • Responsibility for and monitoring of the teaching quality of the Double Degree course.
    • Proposing the appointment of the Director of the Double Degree to the Rector.
    • Agreeing that those students who fail to perform as required according to the provisions of the present agreement should abandon the Double Degree course.
    • Other functions entrusted to it by the Rector or competent Vice-rector.
  2. The Academic Committee must meet at least once every quarter. Meetings are convened either by the Chair or at the request of at least two members of the Academic Committee.

FUNCTIONS OF THE DIRECTOR

The Director of the Double Degree is responsible for the following functions:

  • Execution of the agreements reached by the Academic Committee.
  • Representing the Double Degree.
  • Other functions entrusted to him/her by the Academic Committee.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

  1. Those students who fail to pass the level test may not take part in the International Programmes and will be admitted to their next pre-enrolment option provided they have the necessary entry grade. (Information on the English test 2013). The specific educational programme of the International Double Undergraduate Degree in Economics and Business Administration and Management which those students registered for the course must complete is as described in Appendix I.
  2. The fifth and sixth semesters of the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration must be taken in their entirety in English at a foreign university, provided there are destinations available in order to meet this requirement.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND CRITERIA

  1. The Academic Committee proposes the number of new places on the Double Degree course to the competent Vice-rector for approval by the Board of Governors when it approves the number of new places for other official qualifications.
  2. Those students who wish to be admitted should apply within the same application periods as those established for the first semester of other Public University of Navarre official Undergraduate Degrees.
  3. Students are admitted in accordance with the provisions of the general regulations governing admission procedures for Spanish Universities..
  4. Students who pre-enrol in the International Double Undergraduate Degree in Economics and Business Administration and Management are admitted in order of their University entry grades until the maximum number of places established is reached. In all events, the minimum admission grade must be higher than or equal to the higher of the cut-off grade for the official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and the cut-off grade for the Undergraduate Degree in Economics.
  5. (Modified by agreement of the Faculty Board, March 7 2013) The Academic Committee requires that students admitted accredit knowledge of the English language to level B2 or higher by passing a level test set by the Committee.
    Those students who can accredit level B2 or higher according to the Appendix of “Agreement on the regulations governing language competence for Undergraduate Degree courses”, approved by the Board of Governors at the session held on 20 December 2012 (see also Modification of the Appendix), are exempt from taking the test.
    Those students who fail to pass the level test may not take part in the International Programmes and will be admitted to their next pre-enrolment option provided they have the necessary entry grade. (Information on the English test 2014).

REGISTRATION

  1. Those students admitted to the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration should register for the Double Degree and will be understood to have registered simultaneously for the two official qualifications.
  2. Those students registered should pay the relevant public fees according to the provisions of the Navarrese regulations governing the matter, benefiting, if relevant, from the exemptions provided for in the same or such exemptions applicable by law.

ACADEMIC REGULATIONS

  1. Students registered in the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration must only enrol each semester in modules belonging to the specific educational programme (see Appendix I) and may not, under any circumstance, enrol in other modules made available to students taking the official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management or the official Undergraduate Degree in Economics.
  2. Students must enrol each semester in all the modules for the semester, together with those enrolled in previously and not passed.
  3. Students should enrol within the same periods and following the same procedure as those established for students taking other official qualification courses.

EVALUATION

The evaluation or verification of knowledge of students enrolled in modules belonging to the specific educational programme for the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration will follow the same ordinary procedure as that established for students taking other official qualification courses within the periods specified in the academic calendar approved by the Board of Governors for all official Undergraduate Degree courses.

SPECIAL ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE SYSTEM

  1. Special academic performance is required of students taking the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration, which they must satisfy in order to continue on the course.
  2. Students taking the Double Degree must pass each of the basic and core modules in the relevant semester according to the specific educational programme for the course or, at the latest, within the next two semesters, excluding Exchange Programme semesters.
  3. At the end of the second semester, students must have passed at least nine of the modules in the specific educational programme for the Double Degree.
  4. Students who fail to meet any of these requirements of continuance must abandon the Double Degree, the option of continuing to study either the official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management or the official Undergraduate Degree in Economics, as they prefer, remaining open to them.
  5. In exceptional, unexpected circumstances, duly justified by the student, the Academic Committee may propose that a student not abandon the Double Degree to the Vice-rector competent in student matters.
  6. The performance required does not exempt students from complying with the rules of continuance established by the Social Council for Undergraduate Degree courses at the Public University of Navarre.

ABANDONING THE DOUBLE DEGREE

  1. If a student wishes to voluntarily abandon the Double Undergraduate Degree in order to continue solely with the programme for the official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management or the official Undergraduate Degree in Economics, he/she must apply in writing within the relevant period established in the calendar of administrative procedures for official Undergraduate Degree courses. (1)
  2. Abandoning the Double Degree does not prevent students from taking both official Undergraduate Degree courses at the same time, in accordance with the general regulations governing the matter. To this end, students should apply for simultaneous registration on the two courses in writing within the period referred to in the previous section.

(1) Students who decide to abandon the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration on a voluntary basis in order to continue solely with the programme for the official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management or the official Undergraduate Degree in Economics should join the normal groups for the relevant course. Should such a student wish to continue his/her studies on the international programme of the Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, he/she may only apply at the end of the first academic year. In order to apply, he/she must meet the entry grade requirement for the class year relevant to him/her and have complied with the rules of continuance of the Double Degree. (Agreement of the Faculty Board of 30 June 2014).

GRANTS/SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. Grants or scholarships awarded by the State, Autonomous Communities or other official bodies and administered by the Public University of Navarre which require registration in one of the two official Undergraduate Degree courses are processed according to the course considered most suitable for the grant/scholarship in question.
  2. Those students referred to in the previous point may apply for Public University of Navarre collaboration grants under the same conditions as students taking other official courses.

CENSUSES AND STATISTICS

For the purposes of official statistics compiled by the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Statistical Institute, the Government of Navarre, etc., students taking the Double Degree are considered students of the two official Undergraduate Degree courses: the Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and the Undergraduate Degree in Economics.

SUPPLEMENTARY PROVISIONS

One. Joint Admission together with International Programmes

  1. Students may be admitted jointly to the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration, and the International Programmes of the Undergraduate Degrees in Business Administration and Management, and in Economics.
  2. In the event of such joint admission occurring, the following admission criteria will apply:
  • Students who pre-enrol in the
  • International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration, the International Programme of the Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management or the International Programme of the Undergraduate Degree in Economics are admitted until the maximum number of places established is reached.
  • The minimum admission grade must be higher than or equal to the higher of the cut-off grade for the official Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and the cut-off grade for the official Undergraduate Degree in Economics.


Two. European Diploma Supplement

(For students entering until the academic year 2012/2013) The following information is included in section 6, Additional Information, of the European Diploma Supplement: “The student has completed the specific educational programme of the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration with at least 50% of the teaching activities in English”.

(For students entering after the academic year 2013/2014, by Agreement of the Faculty Board of 7 March 2013) The following information is included in section 6, Additional Information, of the European Diploma Supplement: “The student has completed the specific educational programme of the International Double Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management and Business Administration with at least 50% of the teaching activities in English”. This information will not be included in section 6 of the European Diploma Supplements of those students who, for academic reasons, fail to reach the 50% of teaching activities in English required.
