Application for admission

In order to be admitted as a PhD student, you must proceed as follows:

STEP 1:
Check that you meet the general requirements for acceptance and see the PhD programmes available.

STEP 2:
You must look for a professor associated to the programme who could supervise your thesis. If you don't know any professor yet, you can contact the coordinator of the PhD programme, who could help you find a supervisor.

STEP 3:

Apply for admission to the PhD programme. Application period: all year. The following documentation must be submitted, attaching a single combined pdf document properly ordered, to escuela.doctorado@unavarra.es

The academic calendar should be consulted in order to know the registration periods and the validity of the admission.

• 01 Application form. It must contain the original signature of the candidate.
• 02 Motivation letter: The following aspects must be taken into account:
  • All three pages must be duly completed and signed. If you don't know yet a professor who could supervise your thesis, please contact the coordinator of the programme.
  • The signatures of the involved doctors must be original: thesis director or directors, tutor of applicable, department head and head of the research group.
  • Provide contact information if they are from outside Public University of Navarre.
  • Short research proposal summarising the research project to carry out according to the specified instructions.
• 03 National ID document (DNI), Foreign Citizen ID Number (NIE) or passport.
• 04 Copies of degree and master’s degree certificates, or equivalent, indicating that PhD acceptance requirements are met.
• 05 Degree and master’s degree academic record. If the degrees are foreign, it will also be necessary to submit the Equivalence of average grades of university studies carried out, which can be requested  for free here: https://universidades.sede.gob.es/pagina/index/directorio/Equivalencia_notas_medias
• 06 CV.
• 07 If the diplomas submitted are not Spanish, an official certificate stating that with said diplomas it is possible to access the PhD programme in the country they were issued.
• 08 (If relevant) Letters of recommendation from researchers of recognised standing.

If registration depends on your being awarded a scholarship/grant or other form of aid, you must indicate the details of the relevant call/application. If admission is required in order to apply for the scholarship/grant, then you must also indicate so.

The application must be addressed to the Academic Committee for the programme in question and sent to escuela.doctorado@unavarra.es

STEP 4:
Admission decision. Within one month of presentation, the Academic Committee for the programme will announce its decision on admission. If the decision is favourable, you will be assigned a tutor, who may or may not be the tutor proposed in your endorsement document. If the Committee considers it necessary, it will set complementary courses which you should take.
You will be told the dates of registration and informed that acceptance expires should you fail to register within the period set.

STEP 5:
Initial registration: If you are accepted on a PhD programme, you must complete the Thesis Commitment and then go to the Postgraduate Office to formalise registration.
