Ariadna García Prado graduated in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Navarre, and was awarded a PhD in Economics by the Public University of Navarre, where she has been under contract as Professor (PhD) in the Department of Economics since 2011.
Prior to that, she pursued a career as a specialist in social development in the Division of Social Protection and Health of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington (United States), and as a health economist in the World Bank, where she conducted research and managed health projects in developing countries. She has also been Visiting Scholar and Visiting Research Associate at the Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore) and Boston University (both in the USA), and has completed research and training stays at Georgetown University (USA), Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands), the University of York and London Guildhall University (both in the United Kingdom), and a teaching period at the National University of Comahue (Neuquén, Argentina).
Her main research interests focus on Economic Development and Health Economics (particularly the behaviour of healthcare providers, incentive mechanisms in the healthcare market and health reforms in developing countries). She has numerous publications in international and national journals with high impact factors (JCR), and has also published book chapters.
Ariadna has taken part in nine research projects funded through national and international competitive calls, and has been the principal investigator of research contracts the results of which have guided political decision making.
She reviews articles for international journals and is on the editorial board of the Newsletter of the Spanish Association of Health Economics. In 2004, she won the award for the best paper given at the National Conference on Health Economics held in El Escorial (Madrid).
In the field of university management, she has been the Coordinator of International Relations for the Undergraduate Degree in Economics and the Double Degree in Economics and Business Administration and Management in the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences since 2013. She is also the Academic Director and Coordinator of the course Economic Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environmental Programs, run in conjunction with Indiana University (United States), held at the UPNA since 2012.
